After winning the toss, Lions opted to bat first. Due to hindrance of rain, the game was reduced to 15 overs. Except Reeza Hendricks, players in top order of batting lineup could not perform well in the initial phase of match. Rassie van der Dussen lost his wicket without scoring any run. Next batsman Mangaliso Mosehle too failed to score a single run in this match.

Dismissals of two batsmen in first over completely shook the team. However, Hendricks was strong at the other end of strike. He was further accompanied by Marques Ackerman. Marques scored 10 runs 6 balls and lost his wicket in 3rd over of the match. Dwaine Pretorius replaced him as the next batsman and scored 20 runs in 21 balls.

Hendricks continued to perform well till the end of first inning. Titans’ skipper Albie Morkel picked up three wickets while David Wiese and Lungisani Ngidi took one wicket each. Titans started the run-chase with unsatisfactory beginning. Opener cricketer Henry Davids scored 5 runs while his companion hit 5 fours and 2 sixes to score 39 runs in 24 balls.

After the fall of wickets of these opener players, team’s captain Albie Morkel and AB de Villiers came to bat next. At other end of strike, de Villiers hit 3 fours and 5 sixes to score 50 runs in 19 balls.

Once again rain obstructed the game and umpires had to declare the winner by using DLS rule. According to the rule, Titans won the game by 8 wickets. Versatile cricketer Albie Morkel received ‘Player of the Match’ award for exhibiting excellent performance in bowling as well as batting.
